EU Data Act: the Industry, Research and Energy Committee will adopt its position on rules to boost the availability and exchange of industrial digital data, to unlock their potential for the European economy. These measures will regulate how data can be exchanged, claimed or accessed by their owners and third parties.

European Digital Identity: the Industry, Research and Energy Committee will vote on a draft bill to make national digital identity (eID) schemes interoperable across Europe and facilitate online access to key public services. Its aim is to facilitate the use of an eID by at least 80% of citizens by 2030.

Today, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) will launch the antimicrobial report (AMR), ‘Bracing for Superbugs: strengthening environmental action in the One Health response to antimicrobial resistance at the sixth meeting of the Global Leaders Group on Antimicrobial Resistance. The Global Leaders Group, which aims to accelerate political momentum, leadership, and action on AMR, will take place online and in-person 7-8 February in Barbados.

Bank of Japan Governor is to be selected in February. Developed economies are watching the selection process and perspectives of the new Governor. President Biden’s State of Union address may contain new headlines. UK GDP, Eurozone retail sales and Germany industrial production and inflation will be released. Emerging markets interest rates will be announced in India (currently at 6.25%), Poland (currently at 6.75%) and Russia (currently at 7.5%). Inflation data from Brazil, Chile, China, Mexico, Philippines and Thailand as well as GDP from Indonesia, Malaysia and Ukraine are expected.
