58th Session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), The session will focus on the approval of the Synthesis Report of the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6). This aims to provide a clear overview of AR6 findings to form the basis of future policy decisions. It is the final product of the AR6 round. March 13-17 Fifty-eighth Session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 

European Parliament Plenary Session meets to discuss Energy performance of buildings: to make the building sector climate-neutral by 2050, MEPs will debate and vote on draft measures to substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.

Geneva, the 86th session of the Global Forum for Road Traffic Safety, organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) will be held from 13 to 17 March. 

The Future Networked Car Symposium 2023, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), will be held virtually on 13-16 March 2023. The theme of this year’s event is ‘achieving connected, automated and safe mobility’. 

TUESDAY

EU Ministers will hold a policy debate on a draft law on fees and charges payable to the European Medicines Agency. The proposal dates back to 13 December 2022 and intends to better reflect the underlying costs of the work done and coordinated by EMA.

EU Data Act: Parliament will adopt its position on rules to boost the availability and exchange of industrial digital data, to unlock their potential for the European economy.

London, the first Partnership for Healthy Cities Summit will be held from 14 to 16 March. Co-hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO), Bloomberg Philanthropies, and Vital Strategies with London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the Summit will convene mayors and officials from more than 50 cities across the globe to discuss proven interventions to prevent noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and injuries, and the best practices that save lives and create healthier cities.

In Beirut, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), is organizing the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development 2023, which will be held from 14 to 16 March.

 World Health Organization (WHO) will release an updated Health Workforce Support and Safeguards List.

THURSDAY

EU Environment Council, Industrial emissions, Ministers will seek a general approach on a proposal to revise the industrial emissions directive. The directive is the main EU instrument regulating pollutant emissions from industrial installations. The revision proposes further efforts to reduce pollution in line with the European Green Deal aim to reach a zero-pollution, competitive, climate-neutral economy by 2050. The proposal aims at guiding the investments needed in industrial installations to reach these goals.

EU Ministers will hold a policy debate on the proposed revision of EU legislation on packaging and packaging waste. The proposal aims to tighten existing rules on prevention, reduction and recycling of packaging and packaging waste. It proposes to reduce packaging waste by 15% by 2040 per Member State per capita and to make all packaging on the EU market recyclable in an economically viable way by 2030. The proposal also aims to set mandatory rates of recycled content that producers have to include in new plastic packaging.

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is expected to release its Technology and Innovation report.

U.S. February Consumer Price Index will guide the U.S. interest rates set to be shared next week. The UK Chancellor of Exchequer will release UK Treasury’s Spring Statement on Wednesday. Chinese economic data, UK employment numbers, Norway and New Zealand GDP, and India’s Consumer Price Index, Turkey’s current account balance, and Eurozone and Bank Indonesia’s rate decision are shared this week. GEP Global Supply Chain Volatility Index – a comprehensive gauge of supply conditions based on survey data relating to backlogs, inventories, and the causes of delays and constraints cited by companies – fell to its lowest for over two years in January.
